 Power to the People:
Transforming Supply Chains from the Bottom Up!

People issues are considered one of the most overlooked and under-studied areas of supply chain management. In this session, Dr. Esper will highlight key people management and leadership strategies that are associated with enhanced supply chain effectiveness. Based on academic research and industry examples, this presentation will emphasize the critical role that effective people management plays in transforming supply chains.

Dr. Terry L. Esper is Assistant Professor of Logistics at the University of Tennessee, and a faculty member for the University of Tennessee Center for Executive Education. He received his Ph.D. from the Sam M. Walton College of Business at the University of Arkansas. Dr. Esper’s research interests include supply chain collaboration, demand and supply integration, strategic transportation management and interorganizational learning. His research has appeared in numerous academic journals, conference proceedings and trade publications. His teaching specialties include purchasing/supply management and strategic logistics/supply chain management. Prior to his graduate studies, Dr. Esper worked for Hallmark Cards, Inc. in several supply-chain related positions. Moreover, he also conducted research for the Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department and the Federal Highway Administration.
