Calgary is the largest city in the province of Alberta and the third largest civic municipality, by population, in Canada. It is known as a destination for ecotourism with its many mountain resorts. The petroleum industry in addition to agriculture, tourism and high-tech form its major economic pillars. Despite its focus on the petroleum industry, Calgary was ranked the World's Cleanest City (health and sanitation) by the Mercer Human Resources Consulting's worldwide quality of life survey in 2002.
