The Supply Chain Management (SCM) Doctoral
Students Colloquium is intended to be a forum in which PhD students
can meet and discuss their research work with their peers
and a panel of experienced SCM researchers and
practitioners. The colloquium precedes the Sixth
International Symposium on Supply Chain Management which is
to be held at the same place on October 15-17, 2008.
Students from a broad range of disciplines, including
supply chain management, operations management, management
science, operations research, industrial engineering and
information systems, are invited to to attend the
colloquium. Ideally students would also present at the
symposium, but this not necessary. The program will be
designed to be most beneficial for PhD students who already
have a clear idea about their dissertation research program.
We are planning for a rich program that includes:
- Short presentations of research programs for a
selected number of participants followed by discussion
- Teaching Effectiveness: Seasoned education
consultants will share their experience in teaching SCM
and teaching methodologies in general
- Developing a Career with Industry: What do managers
seek in SCM graduates? Professional designations in the
field of SCM
- Developing a Career with Academia: The job search
process and how to build a research program
- Participation in the Reception for the Sixth
International Symposium on Supply Chain Management
